3 Scary DIY Projects You Can Totally Finish

Some DIY projects can seem pretty daunting when you don't have any experience. What if you mess up?!? That's definitely true if you're naturally cautious. But after you have one or two under your belt, many projects seem plain simple.

1. Starting your Own Business

This one really seems like a doozy. After all, you are giving up a steady salary and setting off on your own at home. What if you have a hard time finding work? What if you don't get enough work done without the pressure of working for someone else.

As it turns out, with a well thought out business plan and a good idea that you have confirmed will work, it may not be as scary as you first thought. Think about it, millions of small businesses have started from people's homes on nights and weekends. There's no reason yours can't too.

2. Car Repairs

Some things like taking apart a transmission should not be done by first timers. There is a high risk of not being able to get every part back together and working. But, there is no reason that you can't start out in your garage or driveway by changing the oil, windshield wiper blades, or another small repair. The more you do, the more comfortable you will be working on your car for easy jobs.

3. Plumbing Repairs

Did you know that fixing a leaky faucet can usually be done with just a screw driver and a new washer? Why pay a plumber a trip charge and a service charge for something that you could do in twenty minutes once you have the right parts. The same could be said for unclogging a drain. Because of how they're designed, most sinks can be fixed up like new by just removing the S trap underneath the drain with a pipe wrench, cleaning it out, and then putting it back in place.
